SOS Build for Alex

Dear Friends,

This is a very special appeal on behalf of a gorgeous little boy called Alex Dunne. We hope that your kindness and compassion can make a significant difference in this child's life.

Alex is now four years old, and life for Alex and his family is completely overwhelming and exhausting due to the complexities of his diagnosis.  Alex is not eligible to receive support from established charities that care for severely ill children, hence the commencement of the “I Am Alex” fundraising campaign in 2022 by Alex’s family.

A group of friends of the Dunne family became aware of Alex’s difficult home situation. They realised the urgent need for Alex’s family home to be adapted to accommodate his ever-changing needs and that of his family.  So, the “SOS Build for Alex” fundraising campaign was born!

The aim of this campaign is to redesign and renovate Alex’s home with the support of anyone who can help. There is a small team of friends and professionals currently in place helping to coordinate the renovation.  The family is not receiving any support other than from the “I Am Alex” and “SOS Build for Alex” campaigns.

 Any contribution, no matter the amount, will have a direct impact on Alex’s well-being. Your support can assist in covering the costs of the necessary adjustments to his living environment. With your generosity, we can alleviate the financial strain on the Dunne family and enable them to focus on providing the love and care he requires.

The plans for the renovation have been drawn up and are ready to implement. They include a new downstairs bedroom and bathroom with wheelchair access, a hospital bed, soundproof rooms, a sensory garden, and a harness system to be installed throughout the ground floor. This will ensure that Alex is involved in everyday family life.

So here is how you can help and make a life-changing difference:

  • Building tradespeople and suppliers are required - if you would be happy to get involved with offering supplies or trades for the build or for the fit-out.
